Looks good to me, apart from being gutted of the liner and smoothed out for some reason. I don't know of anyone making repros of these, and believe me, I tried -- came across the shell about a year ago, missing the face shield and looked all over the place to find a repop to complete it and never even came close. Also, IF the story of it being found in Ohio is true, that gives it some added credibility as these were made here in OH and this is where a lot of them seem to turn up still.

If your planning on buying this helmet, this will be one of the RARE times I'll encourage someone to send this helmet off to a helmet restorer to have it recorked and painted. It's a case where someone has damaged it by removing the original paint thus destroying it's true value. The only way to restore a portion of it's value is to "restore" it... boy, I hate that word. ;)

Currently, I wouldn't spend more than about $400.00 on this one seeing that you WILL NOT be able to find a liner or chin strap replacement. We need to realize that no matter how rare a helmet this is, it's still an experimental and there is not a real strong market for these. I've seen complete units like this in prime condition only pull down $1,200.00. It should, by it's rarity status, easily pull down $5000 or more but, if folks don't want 'em, then the market dictates value.

Not that it's any guarantee of what this one will sell for...but for comparison, my helmet with the original finish, but in rough condition over all, and of course, missing the face shield, still managed to sell for over $800 to a buyer here in the United States. With the finish gone but workable to get it back to original, and the liner gone (for good probably) it's still a scarce, and desirable item in its' own right, and having the face shield is a definite plus. Just my 2 cents.
