Tanks as Monuments / Displays

While in France last fall in WW1 Meuse-Argonne territory, we came across this Sherman in front of the Mayor’s office in Montfaucon, with the WW1 US memorial to the Meuse-Argonne Campaign on a hillside above the town.

This MAA4 Sherman tank has been instaled in 2018 in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the WW1 which seems somewhat inapropriate for the period? On the hillside above the new village you proba-bly passed thea the Krownprinz OP which has been destroyrd since.

 

Here are some period pics and nowadays ones., look closely at the fence and pilarrs of the property... the only visble remains of the building...
