Jedburgh1944 Posted March 14, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2023 Anyone ever seen a barrel like this one? Not tapered at the end? I believe it's real, just unique!?
kwill Posted March 14, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 14, 2023 Sorry if I'm the dumbest kid in school but I'm not sure what you mean--aren't they all just a straight, unrifled tube?
doyler Posted March 14, 2023 Share #3 Posted March 14, 2023 Dont recall the pistols having a crown on the barrel. They were made as a throw away item.
BryanJ Posted March 14, 2023 Share #4 Posted March 14, 2023 I’ve always been curious if anyone has ever shot one of those. I think I’d have to pass.

They are un-rifled, however if you google pictures, all that I have seen have a very noticeable crown to the barrel, this one does not.
kwill Posted March 14, 2023 Share #7 Posted March 14, 2023 I'm with you now. The original blueprints did specify a 90 degree crown.
DaBomb Posted March 15, 2023 Share #8 Posted March 15, 2023 The smooth bore barrel is 4 inches long, 1/8th inch thick, and made from seamless steel tubing. The barrels were sent to Frigidaire in Dayton for chambering. The muzzle is beveled at a 45 degree angle. This is to allow the initial gas blast to move out from the end of the muzzle. Without the bevel the blast would travel 90 degrees from the muzzle causing much more uncomfortable recoil. Yes they should all have a 45 degree muzzle bevel.
