MattS Posted June 11, 2021 Share #1 Posted June 11, 2021 I noticed while gathering parts to restore this helmet, almost all of them are labeled with “SPM1C1-12-“. I’m not familiar with this code, any help?
hink441 Posted June 11, 2021 Share #2 Posted June 11, 2021 I think it is probably a current format for contract codes. Don’t really know for sure but that would be my guess. Would love to see some before and after pics of the restoration!! Chris
MattS Posted June 11, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted June 11, 2021 Thanks! Yeah, I know DLA and DSA codes, but SPM1C1 is new one to me too.
MattS Posted June 11, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted June 11, 2021 Did some research online, and near as I can tell, the SPM1C1- prefix is for a special procurement 1-time contract for 1 calendar year. "Definitive Contract SPM1C112C0019 is a Firm Fixed Price Federal Contract Award. It was awarded to Mine Safety Appliances Company, LLC on Jun 14, 2012." Also, I didn't know Revision Military Limited bought out MSA's helmet production division in June of 2012. MattS Posted June 15, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted June 15, 2021 Here’s the finished helmet with 2012 dated straps and pads, the shell is dated 2013 making it the most recent helmet I own. I like the look of Multicam Tropic even if it isn’t an official pattern. https://multicampattern.com/multicam_patterns/

MattS Posted June 16, 2021 Author Share #8 Posted June 16, 2021 Thanks for that! I might add some goggles or a NVG mount later.
MattS Posted June 19, 2021 Author Share #9 Posted June 19, 2021 Added a NOS NOROTOS titanium mount which I hit with a little spray paint to make it blend a little better.
mohawkALSE Posted June 20, 2021 Share #10 Posted June 20, 2021 Nice late model ACH, surprised you found all the parts of the similar contract too. That cover is interesting, never saw one before.
MattS Posted June 20, 2021 Author Share #11 Posted June 20, 2021 Thanks! Yeah it’s a commercial cover, I bought a hat in that pattern and just really liked it. From their website, “The MultiCam Tropic™ pattern was developed to effectively reduce the visual and near-IR signature of a person operating in dense jungle environments, areas that predominantly consist of lush vegetation that remains relatively unaffected by seasonal changes. The MultiCam Tropic™ palette compliments and overlaps portions of the main MultiCam® pattern; so pairing MultiCam® gear with MultiCam Tropic™ apparel results in a well-coordinated concealment system.”
