easterneagle87 Posted November 4, 2019 #1 Posted November 4, 2019 California Nat Guard, San Louis Obispo, 1930's
manayunkman Posted November 5, 2019 #3 Posted November 5, 2019 Looks like a Douglas O-38 observer plane.
easterneagle87 Posted November 5, 2019 Author #4 Posted November 5, 2019 Any chance of ID'ing the unit from the tiny symbol on the side of it?
manayunkman Posted November 5, 2019 #5 Posted November 5, 2019 Probably CA National Guard Observer unit.
manayunkman Posted November 5, 2019 #6 Posted November 5, 2019 Could be the 115th CANG Observer Squadron.
Steindaddie Posted November 15, 2019 #7 Posted November 15, 2019 It is the 115th Observation Squadron, California National Guard. Here is a shot of what may be the same aircraft (#4 on fuselage) a few years earlier. Your photo was taken at San Luis Obispo, long used by the 115th for summer camp. Steindaddie Posted November 15, 2019 #9 Posted November 15, 2019 Peter, I am a fan of all NG Observation Squadrons and am always adding their photos to my website. That being said, I did do a couple years with the 115th's descendant: the 115th Airlift Squadron.
