McDermut99 Posted May 31, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 31, 2017 I bought two supposed N3B Flight Jackets/Parkas last week, one olive green and the other bright orange. I don't know terribly much about this era of flight gear but for the price I took a chance on them. From what I have gathered after looking through a few threads about this type of parka my two examples are most likely civilian copies. The layout of words on the tag and how it's sewn onto the jacket seems to be the best way of determining the real deal from civilian copies. However I have had no experience with this area of collecting so there is the chance that I am wrong and they are the real thing. I'm not holding my breath though, especially since I've yet to find a true military issue parka that is bright orange. I have checked the pockets on both parkas and there are no tags of any kind in them. The zippers on both jackets are marked "GENERAL". Are these military issue or civilian copies? What are the determining characteristics with these jackets? Any and all comments are greatly appreciated! http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/81224-help-id-flight-jacket-parka/ http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/127743-7-flight-jacket-what-is-it/ http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/194490-dating-of-this-n3b-parka/ http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/260809-1970s-parka-question/

vintageproductions Posted May 31, 2017 Share #5 Posted May 31, 2017 If the zippers are marked General then they were made for the civilian market.

McDermut99 Posted May 31, 2017 Author Share #19 Posted May 31, 2017 It's now been firmly established that these two parkas are civilian copies. Any ideas as to how much they might be worth? I have no interest in keeping them to use.
