mattsmilitary Posted December 26, 2012 #1 Posted December 26, 2012 Does anyone know a good site or thread or book that is a guide to military crests? Im having a hard time identifying some of mine. Thanks for your help
Sabrejet Posted December 26, 2012 #2 Posted December 26, 2012 This is the official Pentagon / Institute of Heraldry site which lists all of the current mottos. If your DUI has a motto (as most do) just look it up here and it'll tell you which unit it belongs to. http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/UniformedServices/Mottos.aspx?sortbymotto=1
jgawne Posted December 26, 2012 #3 Posted December 26, 2012 Your best bet is to join asmic and get their guides, as they catalog some really obscure ones not found elsewhere.
ithaca37 Posted December 27, 2012 #4 Posted December 27, 2012 Your best bet is to join asmic and get their guides, as they catalog some really obscure ones not found elsewhere. I would recommend the first guides you get are the ASMIC Motto Guide and the ASMIC Charge List. These are almost always extremely helpful to me. THE IOH website is a good resource as well.
irish Posted December 27, 2012 #5 Posted December 27, 2012 Agreed, ASMIC is the way to go. the motto guide alone is worth the price of membership..
1SG_1st_Cav Posted December 27, 2012 #6 Posted December 27, 2012 The ASMIC MOTTO GUIDE and Charge List is the best resource you can buy. I cannot collect without out my copy. Danny
doughboy Posted December 27, 2012 #8 Posted December 27, 2012 Hi, I'm using the book of Berry J.Stein which includes more than 3000 DUI's on a color plate - each DUI is also described in what unit, campaigns and when was it approved.Hope this helps.Sorry for the bad pics. doughboy
joepe Posted May 10, 2020 #9 Posted May 10, 2020 A great source is a very new product by Mr. William Cotter - he sells on Ebay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/SALE-20-OFF-A-Collection-of-US-Army-Unit-Crests/114156860700?hash=item1a9447751c:g:~M4AAOSwP2Zed-ou
