What were you delivering????

.

Hi Johan, I was delivering a scenic image of the Church and Ste Mere Eglise for the tourists wondering around . . . . . .:lol:

Actually I was delivering a Jeep full of friends to the bar for a mid-morning mulled wine Christmas drink. . . . . . . . ^_^ Its actually quite fun tooling around in an open Jeep in the depths of December.

Convenient to have the 'delivery parking space' just in front of the Bar...

You did 'STOP' the mulled wine in time I hope...

Cheers,

Johan

Oh that's funny. They say that a good joke depends on the delivery.

The jeep in the beach bunker photo sure looked strange with that windshield up and roof on. Not the Ken way we've come to know and love.

Hi Mikie, well it wasn't my Jeep in the shot, as you know mine has the screen down and we needed a Jeep with a flat engine hood for the drinks and snacks which was Piet and Marion's . . . . . . ^_^

The following came to my attention

This article explains what it is all about ( or in this case, actually not)

It was part of the "Best of British" series, and they worked very hard to pick an appropriate design. And they succeeded. It's a D-Day image. Just not The D-Day.

Hi Owen, thanks for putting a full report on the forum, to be honest as I said to Nigel at Milweb a few days ago ' we have been interested all our lives reading, visiting, AND owning a lot of militaria from WWI & WWII and we aint seen anything yet, how much is still out there '.

here's piece that was uncovered by the storms a few days ago on Utah beach, think its an unused smoke container, we have seen hundreds exposed over the last ten years. ( I think I showed these eleven years ago somewhere in the first ten pages. )

Hi Mikie and Rene, I think Mikie is right, the right generation, doing the right thing, just the wrong photo for June 1944, they all contributed wherever or however they fought.

Ken ,

Its like when you start collecting.

Hunt hunt hunt.

Find find find.

Then one day you think you have everything.........

Then you find some more.

Then you visit other collections and see even more.

You know you get to the point of selling up.

Its fun .......the whole cycle.

You can never visit or own everything....but its sure fun trying.

Hi Owen, exactly right, once you start collecting the hunt goes on and on, and the younger you start the longer the hunt and the more you collect, I am still amazed at things I see that I have never seen. Also the items I tried to find and never found . . . . .
