IMPERIAL QUEST Posted June 30, 2009 #1 Posted June 30, 2009 Here is the most recent addition to my WWI aviation collection. This makes the third uniform grouping, the second 3rd AIC group, and the first complete trunk grouping for me. Since I can't really improve on the layout that Scott put together on his site, I'll open with the photo below. I will post close up shots of the documents and various other items as the post progresses. This is another one of those "I'll never be able to own a group like that" groupings for me; in fact, after this, I don't think I will ever say that again. Within one year, I went from zero aviation groupings to three of the most heavily documented in text and photographic provenance that I have ever seen. As you will see in the following wide shots, the contents of the trunk is quite extensive. I hope you all enjoy sharing this with me.

IMPERIAL QUEST Posted June 30, 2009 Author #7 Posted June 30, 2009 In this cropped photo section of the above photo, you can readily see that this wing is the exact same wing and tunic that is included in this grouping.
IMPERIAL QUEST Posted June 30, 2009 Author #8 Posted June 30, 2009 Compare to the photo above...same wing, same tunic.
IMPERIAL QUEST Posted June 30, 2009 Author #9 Posted June 30, 2009 The reverse of the booklets shown above...
IMPERIAL QUEST Posted July 3, 2009 Author #10 Posted July 3, 2009 Well, I was going to build this entire thread before I opened it up for forum-wide viewing, however, I can't wait any longer. As of today, this grouping is officially mine as it is paid in full. Since Scott is on vacation next week, I will have to wait until he gets back to receive it. When I do receive the trunk in about 10 days, I will post shots of all of the individual items. Until then...enjoy!
doyler Posted July 3, 2009 #11 Posted July 3, 2009 Steve Another great addition to a great collection. Thanks for posting. RD
BEAST Posted July 3, 2009 #12 Posted July 3, 2009 I really liked this grouping when I saw it on Scott's site and it's going to even look better in your home! Congratulations!
IMPERIAL QUEST Posted July 3, 2009 Author #13 Posted July 3, 2009 Thank you guys. There is much, much more to come.

JDK Posted July 3, 2009 #18 Posted July 3, 2009 Very nice grouping. I had seen it on Baystate. I was suprised it was available for a few days. I was tempted, but WWII aviation is really what I collect. (Gotta Stay Focused!! ) This is a very nice grouping, at a very good price. Congrats!! JD
IMPERIAL QUEST Posted July 3, 2009 Author #19 Posted July 3, 2009 Thanks all, and a special thanks to JD for not allowing temptation to overcome him  . By the time I have posted photos of the entire contents of the trunk, this thread will be quite lengthy.
John Cooper Posted July 4, 2009 #20 Posted July 4, 2009 Steve, I thought you may like this photo of your favorite place in France... Issoudun. Enjoy
IMPERIAL QUEST Posted July 4, 2009 Author #21 Posted July 4, 2009 Steve, I thought you may like this photo of your favorite place in France... Issoudun. Enjoy Wow, great shot John, thanks! At this rate, I am going to have to make a pilgrimage to Issoudun with my uniform groupings for a display there one day. Wouldn't that be cool...
JDK Posted July 5, 2009 #22 Posted July 5, 2009 Thanks all, and a special thanks to JD for not allowing temptation to overcome him  . By the time I have posted photos of the entire contents of the trunk, this thread will be quite lengthy. I am really glad you got it. Honestly, even though we don't know each other, I thought of you, and had hoped that you were going to get it. I know you are very passionate about WWI aviation. You're the perfect caretaker for this group. Can't wait to see the rest!! JD
Bugme Posted July 5, 2009 #23 Posted July 5, 2009 Don't you just hate the holidays? It seems to me that every time I go after "The Item Of A Lifetime", I end up waiting longer to receive it because its a holiday -or- the seller only ships on Saturday's and I purchased the item on Monday -or- the seller leaves on vacation -or- some other lame reason comes up that, from my perspective, is only meant to torment me with anticipation... enjoy the sweet pain Steve!
IMPERIAL QUEST Posted July 5, 2009 Author #24 Posted July 5, 2009 JD, you are a good man my friend. Scott, It's Bad JuJu...Bad JuJu... I think I actually heard hand-wringing and the evil scientist laugh from Scott Kraska when he relayed the bad news about shipping right before hanging up the phone...
