Teamski Posted October 10, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2018 Anybody have an idea where this canteen came from? It has a serial number on the front of it and is marked "1B NY" on the bottom. Thanks! -Ski
Airborne-Hunter Posted October 10, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2018 Its a pre-ww1 spun canteen. The early ones are unmarked. It has the earlier cap too. Very nice and tough to find

jprostak Posted October 11, 2018 Share #8 Posted October 11, 2018 I have to dig a bit more, but I have several items similarly marked. I believe it is the 1st Battalion. New York Naval Militia. WWI era.
jprostak Posted November 6, 2018 Share #9 Posted November 6, 2018 Though this canteen set and some other photos I will post are from a a friend's collection, They are good examples of how this unit marked it's equipment. Again, I'm pretty sure this is equipment for the NY Naval Militia, but have not found a direct evidence. This first set is an RIA 1915 marked canteen set with all matching numbers.
