My FIL did these while stationed on Guam with the SeaBee's in mid 45 to early 46.  Have seen some trench art before but had never seen anything out of a coconut before.  The one that just looks like a nut with his boats and duty stations painted on it, opens up like a jewelry box, he made the hinges and hasp out of copper that he hammer out.  On the fish the fin comes out to reveal a bank, you can take coins out by unscrewing the base.  The eagle the belly lifts off for another little cubby to be whatnot's in.  These are the only pieces he really talked about or showed us of his time in service.

Very cool. Those Seabees had a lot of ingenuity!

Very nice items and knowing that they were brought home by your Father-in-law makes them even more special. Nice items to pass forward for future generations.

They are all neat items, but I really like that fish!  Thanks for showing them to us.

Great items. I'd have to go with the fish as my favorite.
