67Rally Posted April 7, 2013 Share #828 Posted April 7, 2013 This veteran entered training as a naval aviator during WWI. Though the war ended before he completed his training, he did serve two years in the naval reserve. Besides his more legendary career in his preferred vocation, he owned a ranch in Texas and competed in cowboy-esque events.
GITom1944 Posted April 10, 2013 Share #829 Posted April 10, 2013 Just discovered the thread. To keep it going... His WW2 service was no laughing matter. He shot down two enemy planes and was highly decorated. During a strafing mission, he was touched by the finger of fate and he was forced to crash land in a remote area. He is better known for his work after the war in another vast wasteland.
