I was in Coast Guard “A” school in 1989. Everyday we students had to do a pyro locker and armory inventory. I think we had about 30 of these in the small arms locker, all WWII issue. -

Yes this is true that’s one reason there are aircraft displayed at gates and on bases. The tags were stolen before they were shipped to the boneyard, no tag, no aircraft. I know the HH-52 Guardian at the Coast Guard base in Elizabeth Cory had its tag stolen and the bone yard wouldn’t take it so they made it a front gate display -

Nice one. Here's the unit they fell under, the 407th Strategic Fighter Wing. For a short time in the 50s fighters were assigned to SAC with a mission to escort bomber formations. These flew mostly F-84s. By the end of the decade these were all turned over to TAC and SAC was out oft the fighter business. -

I've had these three Engineer patches for years with the bullion patch being the last to add to my collection about three or four years ago. The one with the tabs could have bee used as an armband but not positive. If anyone has an idea of their identification, please post it. Thanks.
