Hey guys, I’m new to the site and having a blast exploring. Although (REALLY) late to this discussion this caught my attention! It appears everyone has made some very insightful observations and comments and I have to say I pretty much agree with everyone so far as any of the possible uses seem plausible. Someone spent a good bit of time constructing this kit. Personally, I don’t think it was assembled in a combat zone but could have been put together by an individual, crew or unit serving in an inhospitable area. It definitely would need some tweaking of contents. I think we’ve all seen other issue kits like the A-13 aerial delivered, even the A-16 Sled but something like the old ML–3 and the Air Force's SKRAM rucksack really make more sense. I just think something like this would be in a better more user friendly, container. In any case it is definitely cool and that 1911 A1 is an awesome find. Oh, I did come across a survival chest some years back (empty) but to me it appeared to be from possibly a life boat. Cheers -

Thanks! No name, unfortunately. I thought about trying to ask the person running the booth at the antique store, but I'm sure they just bought it at one of the many, many estate sales around here. -

Ran into another photograph from the 250th Army Birthday showing 101st soldiers, from what I believe are the 1-187th and 626th LSB based on their organizational beret flashes on the Army black beret, marking down Constitution Avenue in DC. I like the look! I think more units should get permission to where a unit-specific beret flash on the black beret. It makes wearing the black beret a little special, better "esprit de corps." -

Jay is currently Jennifer and defies just about every stereotype out there. A billionaire who served in the 82nd as an enlistedman, who is also a Chicago Jewish Republican, that then became an officer in the Guard and later transitioned to a Woman called Jennifer.... you can't make this stuff up. She also was a huge supporter of the US WWI Centennial donating over 13 million dollars and hosting events at the Pritzker Library. Scott -
