You are missing a couple. VMA (AW) 121, VMA (AW) 225 and VMA (AW) 533. -

Not to be ‘that guy’, but since you wrote “took a chance”, I will add my unsolicited opinion. The shell, split pins, inner / outer band, and remnants of the liner padding all look fine. The wire looks added much later to me. Old scratches on the surface of the helmet that are continuous under the wire, no transfer of the wire - through wear or “ghosting - to the shell’s surface, and the bright orange rust where the wire ends wrap around the rim looks new. In-hand may look different, but based on those pics, that’s where my head is. Sorry, really not trying to be a wet blanket. Maybe post it on WAF or GHW for more-informed opinions (than mine). -

I had a similar find 8 or 9 years ago from a local family. Congratulations! Paul -

Found this in a box of early British Frogs, and thought of you all. It looks to be marked USNY - BOSTON - 186 (4?) I assume USNY is a Naval Yard? You thoughts would be most welcome -

Yesterday was the hottest day of the year till now, with not a cloud in sight so it was time put up this old pagoda tent I had lying around so we could work on the jeep in the shade at least 😶 And a big (visible) step was done as I finally got the first coat of OD on the engine block! Together with another bunch of previously stripped, cleaned and primed smaller parts: After the paint was dry to the touch (which is rather fast in 30+C) I bolted some parts back to the block that were already sprayed OD with a rattle can. This coat of paint has now 2 weeks to cure as coming Saturday I have something else to do, but next time I work on the jeep I will re-torque the head as I had to loosen a few head bolts, and then apply a second coat of OD to the whole block. The oil filter housing I recently acquired turned out to be pitted pretty badly at a few spots on the inside, and even had some pinholes. Fortunately these were near the top so I could weld them shut and grind down the welds pretty easily; it should be good to go now again after I applied a fresh coat of satin black paint. -

I seem to recall that Illinois sent six infantry regiments to the Mexican War (1846-1848) and that when it came time to supply troops for the Civil War state officials began numbering the regiments with the 7th Illinois Infantry. Thus, unless I am mistaken, there was no 6th Illinois Infantry Regiment in the Civil War. -

From schooldays , she was talking to Jane about how long they had known each other. Rachel is one of the kindest, quietest souls you could ever meet, they really didn't deserve this happening to them. She has Tudors mum and dad next door and her sister stays for long weekends every weekend . Still no date for the inquest which isn't helping, everything is in limbo for her. She really didn't need the jeep problem to worry about and the wedding is only 5 weeks away. Hopefully when new battery is fitted they can then start it on the button , if not then I'm ready to go back down . -
