to my eye the wavy letters and chute lines are signs of modern computer guided sewing. Just better quality than the stuff flowing out of Vietnam today. -

Col. David Hackworth, in his book, ABOUT FACE, stated when he became CO of a Bn. in the 47th Inf., 9th ID, he got read of helmet graffiti by making everyone turn their helmet covers to the Brown Side out. No doubt the "best" pieces of helmet graffiti I ever saw was ' DEAD DINKS ARE PACIFIED.' and 'Missouri is Where I Am From, Misery Is Where I'm At.' Some troops had a talent. -

Interesting. That’s probably why it’s so well made. When do you think it dates from? The 1970s? -

I received this wing and upon closer examination it was a cast fake. -

Picked this up remand it has me a little stumped. It’s a fixed bail McCord but with a few strange things going on. First of which is the heat stamp. Looks like 406A but it’s my understanding that a heat stamp that in these numbers would be a swivel bail. It appears that it’s always been a fixed bail. Could it be a double stamp. Additionally, it was repainted at some point (kind of an off OD green) but under the newer paint it appears it may have been blue. USN??? tell me what you think??
