The Vice President of the Vet group (and a 2nd Missouri Cav man) was Camillus Nelson.   His ranch (The Nelson Ranch), built in 1872, is on the National Register of Historic Places.  https://noehill.com/yolo/yolo_image.asp?strImage=nelson_ranch.jpg

I fancy buying a pair of US Tanker trousers bib and brace as worn with the tanker jacket, ideal for winter use. I was looking at the DE Brabander MFG CO made pair sold by the Quartermaster Inspector BE company they do sizes from small to 4 XL, I have been told to get one size up  than your normal size, as these are worn over trousers back in the day. Trouble is knowing what these sizes relate to in inches. I am a 38 waist and 30 inside leg, how would you know without actually trying them on in a shop. Anyone had such a pair and satisfied with fit.

Actually, I like the look, as is.  It looks like the handle could have been made by Auburn Button Works, which made grips for the M1 bayonet.  In my experience, even though you may do a great job of restoring this Mark 2, it will still be a knife that has be "messed with".  Since it has already been compromised, and there is no sentimental value, I would keep it as is, and the spend your money on a reasonable condition Mark2.   Just a thought. Some of these are just very good all around war films. Several cover, different theaters or views of war as well as interesting/rare weapons and equipment not normally seen in US/western war films.   Many of the great classics have already been posted and I’ll probably repeat a couple here. From all versions of all quiet on the Western front to Battleground, The Best Years of Their Lives, 12 0’Clock High, Patton, etc., etc..   (Some GOOD ) INTERNATIONAL WAR FILMS  +  Panfilov’s 28 men April 9th *9th company,  *siege of Jadotville (Netflix) *Danger Close Generation War (German mini series) *84 Charlie Mopic The Bombardment/ shadow in my eyes The Forgotten Battle  Nr.24 Winter war Breaker Morant The Lighthorse Men Master & Commander *Downfall  *Das Boot  *Kilo Two Bravo *Battle of Long Tan  1944 ( SS / Russian Estonian made) Unknown Soldier ( Finland) *The Outpost  12 Strong Generation kill The Pacific Band of Brothers   Pans labyrinth (fantasy/Spanish Civil War)   Being a huge Stanley Kubrick fan I’ll mention again Full Metal Jacket, and Paths of Glory. Dr. Strangelove (classic! Battle footage us troops trying to retake Air Force Base filmed documentary style.)   Though a sci-fi film Children of Men besides being an excellent film has some of the most authentic urban battle scenes ever filmed.    Sorry for being so long-winded.

Band of Brothers is one on my favorite WWII "movies".  When I first watched it, I saw a close up of a cut down M1 used in boot camp in 1942, when they should have been using either the Model of 1905, or the "new"  M1905/42....certainly not any version of the M1.    I had not seen the WT M1bayonet with the Greek number markings.  That's a great catch.  It's fun to find these gems of incongruities.    There was a long form series a few years back. I think it was called "The World Wars"  The mistake I found there was absolutely laughable.  It shows a young Hitler during WWI admiring a 1903 Springfield which was bad enough, but it also had a 1905 bayonet with a FIBERGLASS scabbard!

Note the Far East characters and the words national decoration on the bottom of the base bar on the last picture.  Interesting.

I think a similar was just sold for around $275.
