Yes the Embl. trades example was a master with the Star/wreath removed very cleanly. I did not catch that detail when I bought it, as soon as I saw the rare maker I paid.    Thank you for your explanation on the Japanese occupational jump wing. It’s just under 1-1/2” and overall looks smaller than a normal sized jump wing.

Salvaged from an abandoned storage unit. Original wooden patriotic frame with cardboard box backing dated 1942. Thought it was fitting to post today on the anniversary when MacArthur vowed on March 20, 1942 that he would return to the Phillipines.

My ancestors had served in (various) uniforms all the way back to the 1600s in Europe.  My dad served in the Army in the Southwest Pacific during WWII -- from Guadalcanal to prepping for the invasion of Japan, and then was recalled to active duty when the Korean War started and remained in service until the late 1960s.  All my uncles served during WWII as well.  I was born on an Army base and grew up as an Army brat in the US and overseas. Most of my friends were Army brats (not surprisingly).   Guess it was in my blood. Growing up & in high school, I never really thought about doing anything other than being a soldier. Not surprising that military brats are FAR more likely to join the military than their civilian counterparts with no experience in anyone in uniform.   I enlisted shortly after finishing high school, ended up going to college and was commissioned in the Army.  Served for 30+ years before retiring. It was a ride!
