. A2 Jackets Original and Reproduction   I have really enjoyed wearing an A-2 most of my life, Back in 1970 it was an original as they were still pretty considered surplus items. I still own the one in my collection that I wore in the 1970's, but since then I have worn reproduction ones.  Here is my current one with an original Air-Corp patch.  Yesterday I was really pleased to be complimented on the jacket in three separate incidences.        cheers lewis.   ...

. Hi Johan,     you sure did, for some strange reason I only had the pad section of the carrier without any straps as I recall.  At the end of WWII the British army virtually abandoned anything left over from the war and so I had never seen one of the complete Base Plate Carriers in use, where all of the European armies rebuilt their armies on surplus US equipment.    Strangely the fact that most European armies used surplus US equipment worked well for me by the time it came to filming Band of Brothers.  At the start of production I supplied 300 M-43 pattern uniforms for filming the winter Bastogne scenes, these came from Norwegian surplus. Norway had used original M-43 jackets and pants at the end of WWII and as stocks of these began to diminish the Norwegian army had quality military grade copies made to continue army supplies.    By the time the production was heading to the winter scenes such as the battle around Foy it was discovered that the 300 uniforms I supplied had disappeared from the wardrobe department.  In double quick time I had to acquire another 300 sets from surplus suppliers in Norway, although not good that the sets had disappeared I was happy to receive a further requirement from the wardrobe department.    And while talking of missing items on the production my friend Alan Hausmann head of the webbing department had his original first edition copy of my book stolen, fortunately I still had another first edition for Alan .       Norman D. Hi, I was looking at this Western Fighting Knife. I don't know too much about them. I don't know how to date them. Is this a WW2 era knife? The guy that has it is asking $300. I was looking around and I saw some similar ones that was a lot less but I don't know if those were post WW2 pieces.  Pics are not the best. The guy sent them to me from his phone.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rocky
