What a great movie.   If I was the director would have let him wear his own ribbon bars for the movie-- maybe he did???  I think most of the ribbon pictured he indeed earn in WW2.  Thanks for posting.  

i know he served in the 128th naval construction battalion at the end of WW2 and also the 53rd naval construction battalion during Operation Crossroads after the war, is that what the patch is referring to? thank you   Adam

grandfather served in 491st Quartermaster Petroleum Depot and 457th Quartermaster Base Depot out of Fort Devens and Fort Drum from 1950-53, i know the Corporal stripes but not the patch above, any ideas? thanks

Barn Find 1990.   Hi Kevin, Johan and earlymb,   yes wartime RAF vehicles were painted green during WWII as shown in this wartime colour photograph of a Morris Light Armoured Reconnaissance Car.    Back in the early 90's when we used to drive around farming area's looking for Jeeps, this was one of the barn find vehicles we found in a farmers barn, sadly didn't do anything about it, as it was only Jeeps and Jeep parts we were looking for.      Norman D.
