I received this wing and upon closer examination it was a cast fake.  

Picked this up remand it has me a little stumped.  It’s a fixed bail McCord but with a few strange things going on.  First of which is the heat stamp. Looks like 406A but it’s my understanding that a heat stamp that in these numbers would be a swivel bail.  It appears that it’s always been a fixed bail.  Could it be a double stamp.  Additionally, it was repainted at some point (kind of an off OD green) but under the newer paint it appears it may have been blue.  USN???   tell me what you think??    

Here is another SOG knife Presentation Bolo to a member 5th SFG. I purchased this from Bill Walters Knife list. It had no sheath of mount plaque, but I liked it. Won this patch in auction. Description is Korean War US Aviator Engineer theater made 5” pocket patch.. My big concern is that the cheesecloth glows. It is extremely well made and very thick raised images that is unusual. What do others think ? Is it a reproduction? Thanks for help.

I’d agree, looks like a repro to me. Has characteristics of the butler series stuff. 

Generally speaking helmet grafitti was tolerated as long as nothing offensive was written on it. However if you were in a city like Saigon or Nha Trang the MP's might not allow it. Also, the troops preferred to wear olive green baseball style caps, boonie hats or berets in the rear. Draftees were more inclined to have helmet grafitti than career soldiers. Never saw an officer wiearing a helmet with grafitti on it. 

Won this at auction and recieved today. Not happy with back appearance looks like reproduction. Doesn’t glow at all. More familiar with decal version and know there are reproductions in cloth that are slightly different and modern. Is this a period example?

The new pics are better, work on focused photo's please. Normally when guys post a helmet they show the bails and straps along with the heat treat stamp. Also that hole in the helmet, what does that look like from the inside. The shade of the green paint is better, the gloss paint can be explained now. The ware on the paint is more than I would expect for a post war paint. Its been tossed around quite a bit and the patina of the bare metal indicates that was done in the past. I noticed discoloration in the OD paint where unit red paint flaked. May I see a really good photo of that?
