Purchased earlier this year and finally finished restoring this very rare M5 machinegun hanger for the Phillips Pack Saddle. It will display nicely with the matching tripod hanger that I've had for years. -

Looks fine to me, mine has a carry strap like yours but only thinner. It originally came in a grouping from a chindit, not sure how he would of come across it or even if he picked it up after the war. -
