Well, I found a quick tutorial and it was pretty easy to take it out. Unfortunately there is no info at all, just a glass plate and a plain paper backing.... That said, I learned something new so it was well worth the time. Thanks to all for the info, sadly we are no further along in the identification...    Scott

True that Dave.  The time frames are early, mid and late war almost across the board. The mid war F-2 system USAAF is just so hard to find at almost any price, but the F-3  is commonly found. I still have not found the booties or gloves for the F-1 system or I would have displayed that too.Yes, I still have it in place. In far as the context, Like everyone else I tend to buy things as I find them across all time frames then put them into context for display. These things sit in box;s for years before I know I can present a true context. Everyone wants instant gratification. I want a true depiction of a time and place. My gut tells me new collectors will grow into acurate depictions as thier collections grow.     David

Great display. Still sitting there?   Your last post is a mouth full. So few newer collectors fail to use "context" to direct their purchases. They see random items, are caught having never studied the items, and ask time sensitive questions. We all have done that but so many appear to ignore the great archive of period photos available to them for study. So much can be learned by comparing things photographed over a 5 or so year period.  Long ago I began asking where I've seen things historically photographed rather than just if the collective opinion is that it might have been used. I find that what was commonly worn and used is easily identifiable in some pics but what is typically popular to collect is what is found in everyone else's collections.  Dave  

The two collar disks on your blouse are a "US National Guard" disk and a Montana state disk. Typically, you would expect to see a branch disk where the Montana disk is positioned. Since the PFC rank on the wear's right sleeve is Infantry, I would expect to see an infantry collar disk. The MONT collar disk was typically worn by State Guard or Militia. I would assume that the former owner wore the Montana disk until his unit was federalized at which point they would have changed to the National Guard disk.   Hope this helps.   Allan
