I wonder if may be he used same cap (with scrambled egg visor) for the 2 ranks he got in the Navy although appears a label where is writtten Commander Lewis P.James Would be possible to know if his visor is made during his first rank(WW2) in the Navy and he changed label rank or is impossible to know because rank dates are so close since 1943 to 1945 when he became a Commander? May be material and construction are same from WW2 and the next post war years and then is difficult to determinate exactly the hat period. -

JerseyDevil117 That's some old 4th Armored Division thing from the mid 50s at Hood, this right when the new U.S. ARMY Tape starts to be worn extensively, the 1st Infantry Division did the same thing, -

Interesting, would of thought these Local made Indianhead patches were a thing of the past in 1979, they were quite prevalent in the late 60s early 70s as photos do show. -

I've seen jump wings polished like this. Is this unusual for an officer to polished the details off like this. Polished one is Meyer marked, other is unmarked. -

A few weeks back I got a named uniform grouping belonging to Capt David W. Price who served with the 99th ID during WWII (wounded in Dec '44) and then 11th Airborne in the immediate post-war period during the occpuation of Japan. He went through jump school in August of 1945. His uniform came with the pictured jump wings on it. The seller I got it from stated in the description of the grouping that he thought the wings were repros. I just now got around to looking at them more closely, mainly the backs of them. I'm no expert on these and wanted to get an opinion from the experts. -
