. Hi Kevin,   thanks and very interesting , I was hoping to post some photos of some of the French ' invasion ' currency I have,  I think the ones I have, have the French flag on the reverse.  I recently had to pack away a lot of my collection pieces due to having telephone engineers working inside the house fitting fibre-optics and presently can't recall which carton I packed them in, hopefully I can return to doing this when I re-locate them.      Norman D. . Hi earlymb.   Thanks appreciated,  The US cans also have the earlier simple ' X ' shape pressed into the sides, however the Americans used spot welding to fix the handles and the spout to the body of the can, not welding as the German cans do.       Norman D. Whilst trawling through piles of old paperwork I came across this that was sent to me back in January 2001. Thought it might be of interest to anyone that hadn't seen it before. Kevin

Hi Ken,   that's a nice collection! I have an early, undated can somewhere as well, I'll see if I can dig it out. If I remember correctly, it has a post-war layer of green paint. That very early US can must be extremely rare! 😮   The early German cans can be distinguished by the simple 'X'-shaped stamped reinforcement ribs on the sides; while the standard/later types have the 'square' in the middle.
