Hi everyone, I went out metaldetecting for about four hours this afternoon after work. The farmer had called to let me know the grass had been mowed and the cows weren't in the field after all. though the ground here in the Netherlands is incredibly hard, just like concrete. Still, I can't complain. Unfortunately, I only found fragments of temporary grave markers, but that doesn't make it any less interesting. From what I’ve been able to figure out so far, the finds relate to 12 individual soldiers and one fragment involving unknown soldiers. It’s going to take some time, but luckily I’ve already located three of them on Ancestry, though I still need to research them further. Best regards -

I have that book. It's not exclusively covering horse equipment. It also covers equipment for enlisted men and officers. -

These helmets and liners pop up frow time to time here in Detroit. Everyone here knows they are police helmets. Sometime they come with visor or just the metal visor mount parts.
