I have a set of 5th AF General Orders awarding DFCs and Air Medals to Navy personnel of VP-11. If the individuals had previous awards from the Navy would they wear OLCs as it was "from the Army"? Also as a matter of supply anyone seen photo evidence of this being done because of availability perhaps?

Any thoughts on this ranger patch? It is stapled to a collection of patches that was collected 40+ years ago.

First thing into my mind was Confederates in the Attic !  How many of us were inspired and excited as youngsters by the images of our distant and not so distant past?  I bet a lot of us were.    The Declaration as we think of it is largely due to how Lincoln invoked it.  Not the first, and hardly the last (think ML King in particular), but arguably its use in the Gettysburg address gave it renewed relevance as guiding document.  Now people hardly remember it was an explanatory and aspiration document for the newly self declared states.  They hadn't even formulated Articles of Confederation yet.   On the last statement, I would argue that "could" should be replaced "would think of".  Both men were very determined.  However I do beleieve that Lee continued to beleive it was possible to use force to maneuver the North polically into a negotiated settlement.  At least until it was obvious that Lincoln would win the 1864 election, and Britain clearly unwilling to involve itself further.       This (Calvinist-like belief) is a key aspect of Lee's personabilty that Shaara used to help us understand some of Lee's decisions at Gettysburg.  I know some people have a hard time with understanding it, but I think it really was an important part of his thinking and his actions.
