I appreciate the welcome and hello.  Nice to see other West Virginians on here.  I know where the Shinnston exit is on I-79 and have been to Fairmont several times.  Finding my way around this site now, so thank you for the input.

He inspired a bit of quiet respect from his men, especially out West. There is a story of him jumping off his horse and help pushing a cannon out of the mud during the Vicksburg campaign. The men didn’t know it was him till the gun was free. It seems he didn’t much care to be flashy or charismatic. They also appreciated that he was not afraid to get up into the front during a battle as he did at Shiloh. There are also stories of him walking up to campfires and sitting down for some coffee with his men. Can’t imagine many other senior officers doing things like that. He inspired respect, just not in the way that someone like McClellan did.  mikie

Wow, that's a great collection of family memorabilia. You're lucky to have such a wide variety that documented his and your own experience... I personally  I enjoyed the penmanship for some reason.   'He ain't gonna jump no more' is priceless... I'm assuming lyrics from a tune?  Thanks for posting.

Hit a pop up flea mart today while out to the post office. Can you see what I got?

Cabelas was selling these in their stores (with fullers) before Ontario closed down production a couple years back for the sale/move. I didn’t see any without fullers but all were dated 03-11 which was likely a contract overrun they were clearing out of storage. They were sold in Ontario branded bubble packs for $49.99.

A detail of the STANAVFORLANT pocket badge.  And the Maternity version of the Cash shirt, first on the market in Oct 1977 and still available in modern fabric.  Cheers Armygas

Interesting. Thank you. Did a commercial blade slip into a .gov contract?  It seems most of the unfullered (I guess that’s a word now).  Mine also has a flat clip on the top.
