What do you mean "Are They Real" - Yes they are real medals but specifically they all appear to be reproductions made for the collector market since the late 1940's. The 1919 Haiti appears to be made by NS Meyer Co. in the 1930's and marketed to veterans who may have lost their original.    Without a good shot of the Sampson it is hard to tell but I am guessing that it is a reproduction. The Wisconsin medal is probably a good medal since it is so common no one is taking the time to reproduce them.   As a new collector I suggest you take the time to invest in some good reference books rather then depending on the internet.   I suggest "The Call of Duty" by Strandberg and Bender and if you are being offered medals to purchase, compare the details (suspension ring, thickness, broach etc) and if it does not look like the photos in the book - Don't buy it.

Hi everyone, I saw a set of medals on eBay. I'm interested in collecting Spanish-American War and WWI US military items, but before that, I mainly collected military uniforms and know nothing about medals. The seller said these medals don't have serial numbers or names, but I've seen many US medals with serial numbers and names, which makes me wonder if these medals are genuine. I know absolutely nothing about authenticating US medals. Can anyone help me? Thank you.

It's not mounted on leather, it's direct embroidery into the leather from the looks of it. As Jerry said above, the center color is incorrect and it looks like a modern computer made patch to me as well..   Randy
