Hi everyone, I saw a set of medals on eBay. I'm interested in collecting Spanish-American War and WWI US military items, but before that, I mainly collected military uniforms and know nothing about medals. The seller said these medals don't have serial numbers or names, but I've seen many US medals with serial numbers and names, which makes me wonder if these medals are genuine. I know absolutely nothing about authenticating US medals. Can anyone help me? Thank you. -

It's not mounted on leather, it's direct embroidery into the leather from the looks of it. As Jerry said above, the center color is incorrect and it looks like a modern computer made patch to me as well.. Randy -

I would try and contact Martin-Baker using the link below and explain what you're wanting to find out, of course giving them your data plate information. Martin-Baker maintains extensive archives and can often decode manufacturer serial numbers to reveal which delivery contract or specific airframe the seat was originally assigned to. Good Luck! Let us know if you find out anything. -- Matt https://martin-baker.com/contact-us/ -

Btw, it appears from this data plate that it was completed on june 20, 1977. -

So I recently purchased this seat. Its a Martin Baker seat, serial number 730. I am trying to figure out what F-14 it was initially installed in, specifically the BuNo. There is a decal on the seat indicating that it was refurbished in the 1st quarter of 1988 at the Naval Air Rework Facility and as I understand after it was pulled from the original jet and refurbished, it likely went back into inventory and was installed in another jet that also came to the rework facility so I don't anticipate that I will have much luck determining any other jets this was installed in other than the first one unless there are records tracking this serial number. So i'm posting this here to see if anyone can help me or point me in the right direction or to a person who may be able to help...Martin Baker staff, former maintainers etc. Any and all help would be so much appreciated....just would be so cool to put some more history and story to this unique piece. Thank you all! -
