There's one way to find out... remove the EGA. Maybe there's another small shrapnel hole under the EGA? If so, it might not be a Marine helmet after all. Lastley, there's no doubt in my mine the EGA was added to this shell.    Chuck

Keep in mind the EGA is brass or bronze, not steel.  Of course it's not going to oxidize the same way as the steel helmet.   Steve 

That EGA in my opinion has been on this helmet a very long time. Look at the rust that climbed from the helmet to the nut on the ega.... Look at the nut.

I have sold a few of the pouches in the 225-275 range (for just the pouch no compass).
