Nice Colt.  I have its near cousin at 878xxx also with # matched slide and barrel.  Honest finish. Assume you checked the grips to make sure they were Coltwood or Bakelite…. Dont think they should have Keys grips at this point.

An interesting note: The U.S. Army lost more personnel to combat in the Philippine Insurrection from 1899-1902 than the entire Indian Wars.  On the homefront there were several protests against U.S. Involvement in the Philippines. While not the first U.S. involved insurgency war it was certainly a brutal one reminiscent of the later Vietnam War.

I hope the AI is right about the flight jacket.  AI can get things very wrong.  It has its limitations.  So I'm like you.  I have Gulf War items that I acquired while in theater as a USMC Tow Gunner.  AI tells me that item will sell for a certain range depending on the item's condition and characteristics.  I have no idea whether there is an interest in these items and if there is what is fair market value.  Ideally, I'd like to sell together to a collector who appreciates the story behind it.  Same with your naval aviator's jacket.  I hope this forum can help us both.

When I was a kid in the 70's and 80's, not much was taught about this war and its brutality.   It didn't end with Dewey sailing into Manila harbor.  It had just begun.  And there were many Filipinos who saw that the Americans had come to replace the Spanish, and there would be no independent and sovereign nation.  The Philippine-American war was brutal.  More should be taught about it in school.

What about this Colt is not nice enough? Finish, or are there parts that are not original?

Perhaps it is just me, but I wouldn't give 3,000 for a pistol in that condition. For 3,000, you should be able to get a nicer colt.
