Thanks atb. I did a 'google lens' after you replied and tons of those images popped up. That must be Pershing with the 1911. -

Part of an Army print series done in the 1950s-60s by an artist named H. Charles McBaron. He did quite a few series for the Army over many years. They are still available through the US Army Center of Military History. And, yes, the Army in the Philippines against the Moros -

I bought this framed 13x20 print at the flea market this morning. U.S. soldier in the middle appears to be armed with a 1911. Is this an engagement with the Moro's in the Philippines, sometime after 1911? What say you. -

For sure it dates between 1941 (when the button eagle head was changed to face viewer’s left) and 1949 (when the CPO insignia was affixed to a “hump” on the black band rather than pinned directly to the white portion of the hat). I too feel it is a WW2 era hat. You want to buy a sterling pin back CPO insignia with curved USN letters to restore it. Easy to find and not overly expensive. But shop around- some sellers ask unrealistic prices for them. Put a CPO insignia on there and you’ll have a really nice hat! -

I've seen the Russokov name on rebuilt Jerry cans. And Climax also made steel ammunition boxes for machineguns. -

Hi Matt, Springfield did not likely cut down any M1905s. Your bayonet could have been cut down by any one of the WWII manufacturers, except WT/Wilde Tool, who was not contracted to make the M1 bayonet. The WWII manufacturers simply accepted thousands of M1905s and Model of 1905 bayonets (SA as well as RIA) and cut them down without respect as to the original company manufacturer. Your bayonet simply did not get marked with the mark of the manufacturer who did the modifications. You are right about the scabbard. It is a 1953 contract. Marv -

OK, so the enlisted cap with the piping is the 1936 version but did not remain regulation with the 1938 revisions that returned to a colored hat band.
