Definitely before August 21, 1959 when Hawaii became the 50th State.  The label shows Honolulu, T.H., the T.H. being the Territory of Hawaii.  The Dreadnaught label specifically refers to a famous, heavy-duty naval canvas/twill used to make the iconic white "Dixie cup" caps or the traditional "flat hats" of that era. During the major Pacific Fleet expansion most notably when the U.S. Navy homeported a massive portion of the fleet at Pearl Harbor in 1940—manufacturers like Dreadnaught maintained prominent military outfitting operations in both Southern California (Long Beach/San Pedro) and Hawaii to supply sailors directly.  So, somewhere between 1940 and August 21, 1959 is my guess.

Trying to figure out what this patch might represent. Wondering if it might be a morale patch from the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron. Appears possibly Thai made and the green color seemed to be used with a lot of the 555th's patches. I have copied the following directly from the Wikipedia page for the 555th TFS for reference:    "The 555 TFS launched night bombing attacks against North Vietnam on 29 September 1967. While at Ubon, the 555th downed additional MiGs, including four Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21s on 2 January 1967 in Operation Bolo. The unit thus became the only "Quad Ace" fighter squadron to that point, with 20 MiGs to its credit.[16]

I felt so sorry for this poor old hat that I had to bring it home from the antique shop today. It’s sad, isn’t it? How could I resist? After digging around the forum and elsewhere, I’m thinking this is an about 1941 to about 1950 CPO cap. Please correct me if my conclusions are correct or not.  Spock would probably question my logic, but here it goes… I’m guessing it’s a CPO cap due to the black strap. There is a small pin hole in the front center that must be for an insignia. Direct pin-on insignia went away with the 1949 regs. The frame is definitely wicker. The side buttons face the 1941 direction.  Once I know that my infallible reasoning is correct or not, I will see about finding a proper insignia.  Thanks for looking and thanks for any help with this.  mikie

In mid-February 1976, while attending cross-country skiing at Fort Wainwright, we were issued wool scarf, and they were defiantly worn when the temperatures were -20 on warm days and -45 on colder days.  I don't know if they were issued after that time.

I have Gabreski’s autograph which is 100 percent authentic. I got it 35 years ago from my former secretary who’s dad flew with Gabby in WW2 and had him sign it for me at a reunion. I’ll post it later for comparison.
