I recently found this Kinney Sterling ring among some of my grandparents’ personal effects and was hoping someone here might be able to help identify it or provide more context on it.   My grandfather served with the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division between 1950 and 1953, so my first thought was that it may have been connected to his time in the Army. That said, I am not certain the ring belonged to him - it seems too small for his fingers.   My grandparents were also very close with several World War II veterans over the years. One of those veterans eventually passed many of his wartime souvenirs to them with the understanding that they would eventually come to me. Because of that, I am trying to be careful not to assume too much about the ring’s origin or ownership.   The ring is marked “Kinney Sterling,” and I would be interested to know whether anyone recognizes this style, maker, period, or possible military connection. I would especially appreciate any insight on whether this appears more consistent with a WWII-era piece, a postwar occupation/service ring, or something more broadly military/veteran-related.   As for the ring - I plan to get it cleaned up and resized so that I can wear it on special occasions. I am also in the Army so its fitting that the ring has a renewed life.    Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.

wOOt! I'm back! Apparently I was banned from visiting the forum for some 10 days. No idea why. Also back from a extremely hot weekend in Germany, visiting the Panzer museum in Munster, Gedenkstatte Bergen-Belsen and the Helicopter museum in Buckeburg. On the way over we also stopped at the Memory Libration Museum in Nijverdal.    I got a bellyful of WW2 Armor and the complete abridged history of helicopters.  Not to mention a metric tonne of schnitzel, pizza, meat platters and apfelschorle.

Full uniform photos would be helpful. What is a “John Rambo” vibe? Hollywood’s made up portrayal of a Vietnam vet?

If it was a local vet, knowing the state might help with your ID.
