Hi earlymb,   The photo you show is in the central square in Carentan, Normandy, however someone else has mistakenly listed it on the internet as Mont Saint Michel which 123 Kms from Carentan and hour and a half drive. !!!!  Next time it's a quiet day and no cars parked in the square perhaps I can call into Carentan and make a comparison shot.       Norman D. The KIA soldiers name was William Gower, he earned a Silver Star. He was a transfer from 414th Cannon Co to K Co.   Here’s pics of the grip, originally from the seller, as his do better justice to it.
