. Two Jeeps arrived today . . . . . . my local friend drove over to La Rochelle to pick up two Jeeps that had been shipped in from California, unfortunately they are not as un-molested as he was hoping for, various parts have been exchanged or missing, however there are still good parts to be seen. One is a low number Willys Slat-Grille and the other a GPW. He had to be a little inventive to get both Jeeps on to one trailer, wooden pallets were strapped over the A frame of the trailer to sit the Slat Grille on and then the GPW was sat in the rear wheel arches of the Slat-Grille, it was quite common in WWII to see the US Army moving Jeeps around in a similar way to this. The Willys was an original wartime yellow and black ' FOLLOW-ME ' airfield Jeep, and he hopes to be able to recover most of this with a removal product he uses often with great success recovering original OD paint after removing later top coat paint-overs. There are two original ' F ' marked Ford spare wheel brackets. The Ford still has all its underbody PAL nuts in place, probably showing that the body has never been removed from the frame, these are often not replaced if the body and frame are separated. Not so bad as long as the manufacturer of the parachutes had better quality control. -

Pic of USCG guys on Iwo Jima, while most don't have helmet covers, slits can be clearly seen on the helmet of the guy in the N1 cleaning his '03. The guy at the the forefront of the pic with the very stretched cover seems to have no slits in his. -

Patch is ironed on, which I wonder if it was an after thought. No tag in pole sleeve. This is a small flag. Thanks -

Really cool flag! Seems its seen some use. Is the patch sewed on or ironed on? Also, is there a tag inside the pole sleeve?
