I bought a couple of January 1945 Stars and Stripes yesterday ($1 each!) and saw this article and thought I’d share it. That’s some pretty lucky shooting. It must be the most cost effective bullet of the war. Has anyone else heard about anything like this? mikie -

Hello, I was wondering when the 4 pocket dress uniform was used in combat. I know they were used during early WWII but I never found any information on any units that used them. I'm trying to make a WWII impression of any unit that used the dress uniform since I have one laying around. Thanks. -

Hi robinb, The Escanaba Daily Press Feb. 26, 1944 p. 11 Because of the above article, I've been looking for one of those packboards for years. Yours is the first one I've ever seen. J.T. -

Going by this letter, it appears that all the M1941 Johnsons were produced with the bolt hold open mechanism. During the war, the Marines who used them tended to remove the bolt hold open catch.... This rifle here has no bolt hold open catch. -

Looks like a candidate for the second-award-CBI section on this forum, too... ;) The horrible thing is, that people do actually buy these blatant fakes... Especially in Europe, where sellers claim, that this kind ofstuff is real. When reported, the sites do not do anything. I feel sorry for theunlucky buyers... Jules
