Hi everyone, I got this pathfinder patch a few months ago that I believe is a accepted WWII british variation. I had one bad review on it and just getting some peace of mind.    Thank you in advance! John

...and the best for last....his modified dog tag, a Shellback Certificate, and a ship's phone book - "Let's crank call the Admiral!".   ...and so it goes.   Mark sends

These are some cool items...a stationary set from 1945...the left side starts with a ships drawing, photos of the Skipper, Admiral Halsey and Nimitz, etc, followed by the calendar...the right side has sheets of pull-off pieces of paper...I guess the forerunner of sticky notes.  There's a nice Navy sewing kit, and a pocket bible he received before leaving for the ship...

...there's several copies of the ship's newsletter...a nice 1943 Thanksgiving menu...note that it was deferred until 12 December, for reason explained on the reverse...

There's a decent amount of newspaper articles dealing with the ship, as well as a couple of newspapers, which have no known connection....

...some reasonably clean white Crackerjacks....although one set has another name in it....

This week was a mostly Navy week for us, among which was this group from Seaman First Class Sherman L. Reeves, who served aboard the battleship USS South Dakota (BB57) from her commissioning in early 1942 through the end of 1944, when he was transferred to California. This group includes multiple blue and white "crackerjack" sets, ephemera and some items unique to the South Dakota.   First, his blue Crackerjacks....somewhat of a mystery. None shown any sign of a sleeve rate, and all the Muster Rolls show him as never advancing beyond S1c...but his wedding photo shows him with a right sleeve crow.....

Interesting picture as I graduated from the NCOA in February 1971 but we did not wear the helmet liner with the decals.  We wore our regular head gear.  Also, when I arrived at the Canal Zone, MG Johnson was leaving but the change of command had not taken place.
