A couple of months ago I sent a PM about an item from his collection for sale (wondering why he wasn’t selling it) and found out about Andy’s death. We served together at Special Operations Command, Joint Forces Command (SOCJFCOM) right after 9-11. He was an incredible warrior, comrade, fellow collector, and friend. His death hit hard; and reinforced to me what I have already learned through several similar losses. Keep in touch with people who matter and never take tomorrow for granted. Fair winds and following seas Andy.

Can I ask how much you paid for the SWC insignia?

Your question IS vague, relative to @phantomfixer wanting to provide detail.     What specific branch of service are you inquiring about - Army, Navy, etc, as they developed and wore different suits.   Also, are you asking about early, mid, or late war, as that can have an impact as well.

Thanks for your reply. My question was actually very direct and clear—what did you find vague about it? As I specified, I was asking about the Vietnam War—meaning the entire duration of the conflict—and specifically about the gear worn in Vietnam. I also wanted to know why some helicopter pilots didn't wear flight suits, but instead wore the M64 Tropical Combat Jacket. That’s a clear question, too. I own a K-2B coverall from 1965, so there doesn't seem to be a chronological reason why pilots would have worn that suit at one point and the M64 Tropical Combat Jacket (which was introduced just shortly before) at another. That is what I was hoping to find out here.

US Army Spanish Campaign No. 1702 was issued tp 1st Sgt. Albert Monson on March 12, 1908. At that time Monson was serving with 90th Company of the Coast Artillery Corps.   It appears that Monson received a Philippine Campaign Medal also.   His Spanish Campaign service was as a Cpl with "G" Company 14th Infantry Regiment.   The 14th served in China in 1900 however Monson probably was transferred before then since there is no China Campaign medal record for him.   Bill Monson RG-92-601682_073_0403.jpg 938×2,386 pixels.pdf Monson 2 RG-92-601682_073_0404.jpg 930×2,388 pixels.pdf

Ah, sorry about that - when I searched using your keywords that’s what resulted.   My apologies.

I did a search trying to find out more about CAPT Walter A. Johnson, O-472792 325 GIR and discovered that someone from the forum had previously posted about finding something of his in a thrift shop.  For some reason, I could not open or find the thread.  Here is a screenshot of what the search produced.  Any help is appreciated.  I will also post in the individual research section.

. I made another slip up this week.   While still helping to finish the wooden Jeep at the Longest Yarn exhibition some interesting people have passed through to see it.  One gentleman from Tennessee opened up in conversation to show us a photograph of him with Norman Schwarzkopf during the 1990 Gulf War he was one of the MP detail guarding and driving around with the Coalition Commander during that time.  He had a photograph of himself stood next to Schwarzkopf shaking hands, I failed to get a copy of that to post here.  He actually stood taller than Schwarzkopf.       Norman D. . hi mikie,   Tony Hancock made this blood donor skit in 1961 while I was still in school,  and I think he died around 1968,  but this little episode of the blood donor keeps appearing on tv or social media through the years since, it's almost written into folklore.     Norman D.
