. A cool start to a Jeeping day becomes unbearably warm.   So starting out early in the Jeep and wearing a jacket, a couple of hours later the day turns unbelievably warm and the jacket is no longer needed, leaving it unattended in the Jeep is not an option.  For this purpose I have a cable lock,  slide it down the sleeve and out the cuff and padlock it to the Jeep . . . . . .  peace of mind no twenty-seconds and a thief has taken it.    June in Normandy is a thief's paradise open Jeeps everywhere and so many Jeeps covered in clothing and equipment. !!!  Believe me it does happen every year here, shovels and axes are something else to protect, several years ago six Jeeps belonging to friends had the web straps cut and the axes and shovels were gone from the six Jeeps.      Norman D. . Jeep security ideas.   over the years I have seen various adaptions for security on Jeeps.  I have added the enlargement from a wartime image, it appears to show a padlock-hasp attached to the engine hood and the grille.  It reminds of a Jeep grille which featured a couple of holes drilled in the central bar of the grille and at the time I didn't appreciate what the holes could have been for, now it makes me think that the grille I saw possibly had had a padlock and hasp attached during military service.  My own Jeep has a capability of adding a padlock through the engine hood and a small bracket at the top of the grille just under the hood overhang.         Norman D. Very cool piece!   3 generations of US military service.  The grandfather was in WWI and received a PH which is envraged and numbered. This is a type 1 ph. It is numbered in the 5xxxx range. Official engraving. The wwii usn good conduct medal is named and numbered on the back. The post wwii medals are national defense and coast guard good conduct.  I have 10+ pages of research that comes with it. Amazing collection, once time offer of a 3 generation grouping!
