Perhaps this person. Related to the box you posted above, I believe at the time he was with the United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE) and Missile Defense Command (MDC) / Missile Support Services Group (MSSG). -

Fine piece of work, Manny! Weathering is just right. Not too much, not too little! Just right!👌 -

Probably just different styles that were available. I have 5 BDU's from one person and there's 5 different tapes on them. -

Thank you for your answers. The attribution being Wake Island is being made on an other internet site. Your input will help me fine-tune the direction I'll take to try you find out more about this photo. Where taken? Who made it? etc. -

I have 3 US ARMY subdued name tapes, all unused, each made differently. Top is embroidered, middle is woven, botton is printed. What do the different styles indicate? All were found in the same box of deployment belongings from an infantryman in Vietnam. The box also contained several worn black & gold tapes. If it's relevant, he was kansas national guard reserve from '64 until activated, reassigned, and deployed in '68. He left the military after finishing his enlistment & to my knowledge never collected. -

It certainly was not chrome/nickle plated during the war; that was strictly a GI thing. -
