@Gear Fanatic Would this even be accurate for a 1st sergeant to have his rank insignias displayed on his jacket when he was involved in combat? And that he wore a M1928 haversack and bayonet? I can't really find many pictures from the 28th so it's really hard to determine that.

She said she is going the route of museum/preservation quality.

It's $1,400.00 to have done.  It will be a shadow box (walnut) with a blackout.  Between the blackout and banner will be a silver border. Because the banner is delicate, glass was frowned upon by the framer.  she spent 2 hours telling me about her game plan.  She is using UV acrylic.  All acid-free materials.  She said that if I ever sell the banner, the buyer will probably want to know how the framing was done.  She will take pictures throughout the process.  She's done some very high-end pieces.

One thing our forum doesn't do, but could possible add is a people / location locator. Often, sellers don't ship or take certain payment options. I don't mind "bird dogging" stuff for others. Actually it makes the hunt for items more enjoyable when you can help someone out, or they help you. Through the forum, I have made contacts and have helped other collectors get "stuff". In this case I am looking for someone in the Mobil, AL area to snag something for me. If you can help, hit me back.    Thanks, Ben

Good luck on the FRAMING, I am still researching the best way to display.   Have talked to a few curators and Chinese silk museum professionals, They all tell me DONT do it, as just the weight of the material can cause separation overtime, Also all the high end professional archival businesses wanted to use some way to secure it too the backboard!!!! Just as reference I have decided to just go with gravity, NO Pins or Thread to damage it. When done it will be a large shadow box type encloser with hinged front clear panel (probably UV Safe PlexiGlass). I will have the backboard set at angle of say 10 to 15 degrees leading back so the BANNER can simply lay in place with no pinholes or damage at all. May also have it set with the BLACKOUT Glass that is now available, blacks out to solid black with a flip of a switch that way I can keep it out of the light and view when needed LET me know how the framing works out as i am very interested on the process you chose

I've never heard of this but would certainly be open to seeing documentation.     Yes, I'm one of the former service members who has posted about this on the forum!  My point wasn't that every jungle fatigue uniform was worn in Vietnam, but they were a uniform that was issued/worn in limited circumstances and are not nearly as common as ACUs.  Jungle fatigues were absolutely worn in CONUS during the 1980s but this isn't what they're associated with in the collecting community.  They're associated with Vietnam, which drives the collector interest (and therefore the value, even for a plain set).
