Good afternoon,  Yes the snaps are brass. They are tarnished on the exposed side. Here are some closeups.

. Hi tuefelhund    the group of friends I was travelling with that year we all heard about the disastrous muddy camp but fortunately we were on other camp sites and missed watching vehicles slithering and sliding across the camp ground.     Norman D. Thanks Ken for the help. I love that word bumperette, is that what it’s called in French?

.   . Hi Peiter,   reproduction rear panels are available from dealers who sell wartime Jeep spares,  I don't need the gas-can bracket you bought as this panel is the easier one that didn't use the gas-can holder. however if you had found an original ' F ' marked bumperette I am in need pop one of those.   The number I stencilled on this panel was the engine hood number on the first Jeep I bought, and it appears on this June 1943 Ford manual.       Norman D. Very rare indeed, and the condition on these is like brand new.  Great set of M41 pant/jacket!

I remember both those threads, the project was worthwhile!

Time to beat a hasty retreat.   Regroup around the chicken dish.
