Wade20th, thanks for posting. Yep, those other two (Posts #688 and #689) are both fakes, too. -

I just got these in and have never seen a Newcome that was not Sterling. Can anyone help me date it? -

Ha! A comment like that is how my insane Bren gun and Garand projects started out. See my threads about them here and on the WMF. mikie -

Thank you. I will go with the AF. Also, would it be likely he served for at least 6 months and did not receive a single campaign star? I believe he was with the first field force? -

OMG! Thanks to my miserable allergies, I totally forgot about VE-Day. I also forgot about Cinco de Mayo the other day. I’m sure it was a great relief to everyone in Europe at the time. My Dad was still in the fighting on Okinawa when they got the news Germany surrendered. I think I remember him commenting that they thought it was good news in the long term, but it didn’t really make much of an impression on them at the time. mikie -

Any armor patch collectors who are familiar with this type of patch? -

This one is a fake. The wobbly letters and the backwards "S" on Saigon are the two main things about this. The black filling as well. Wade
