Working on a project and was hoping for some help narrowing down a specific timeframe for this button. From my research it looks to be a button made by Benedict and Burnham. Marked B & B EXTRA. Am I correct in dating it pre 1849 when the company became the Waterbury Button Company?   Any help is greatly appreciated!

Stamped? If it is stamped it MAY be authentic. The painted letters trouble me a bit, but I’m afraid that this is not a simple “yes” or a “no” but an “Inconclusive.”
