Thank you for the information and taking the time to respond. Definitely an interesting insignia and I like the detail they worked into the design. I have come across a few, but not very often.  I assume you have most of the C&GS insignia. If you have a picture of your collection, that would be great!

I just moved here about two years ago and have only been a member of the Legion here for one year this month.  I'm also the first historian of the post and hopefully will learn enough to answer your question.  I know he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in VAN ETTEN, NEW YORK, 14889.  Otherwise all I know is the info included in this original post.

Thought I’d add this 89th Infantry jacket and pants. Lt. Einar Jentoft Anderson. Always nice to get a pocket find , his notes to self for what appears to be a gun salute. I’d assume he was commanding the squad.

I don't know if you need an identification on this pin, so I'll give you one just in case.  This is the Medical device for the classification of Surgeon for the Coast and Geographic Survey.  The C&FS is the precursor for National Oceanic & Atmospheric Association (NOAA).  This is not a military organization but it is a uniformed service.  This simply means that they wear a uniform but don't train or serve in a military role.  I've collected C&GS insignia for years and if my memory serves me right, I paid around $50.00 for mine.

Couple weeks ago, I went to Mare Island Veterans Admin Outpatient Dental Clinic for a crown on one of my molars. To my surprise the dental lab used a 3-D milling device to make the crown while I waited in the dental chair. I was in and out of the dental clinic in less than three hours.  WOW! Very pleased with the crown.

in Belgium you would still be looking at quite expensive boots even if they are beat up so i guess i'll wait with that and try to contact a guy i know from the US if he could maybe get a pair for 50 bucks.

Now this is an interesting development.   Who is Mr Webster that he has a VFW post named after him?
