Thank you Ronnie, Interesting, so the individual made it themselves? I wonder what they need to make it wonder how they made it, shaped molded it etc -

As a GWOT collector, I am very particular with what ACUs I put into the collection. I will only add fully provenanced sets, fully provenanced SF/SOF sets, and the sets that have been modified in country. As others have said, the collectibility of ACUs will be effected by the removable insignia and also due to how unpopular it was with soldiers. There are some exceptions to the rule of course. I can think of the insane prices that the Crye made ACUs go for ($700 to $1000 for a set) and some of the experimental sets also command good money. The common, unnamed ACUs are going to be a drug on the market for the forseeable future. I mentioned the modified sets above. I am attaching a picture of what I am talking about and a picture of one in use with SF/SOF in Iraq. These modified shirts were made by taking the sleeves from an ACU top and adding said sleeves to a t-shirt base. These are not the same as the issued ACU combat shirts. These were done in theater or were done in sew shops around the bases. This type modification was also seen in both DCU and woodland as well. -

Yep, that is one that I’ve seen multiple times, including a picture of one that walked into a motel buy. It had “Okinawa” painted across the forehead - and I won’t repeat what was painted on the back. -

Back in 1900s the VFW in Duncannon PA closed down and they were auctioning off the place. I bought a Japanese helmet with a skull petrified to it and carved New Guinea. I was home from school and brought the head up to my room. My mom said loudly “Peter what did you bring into the house?”, nobody knew what I brought into the house but my mom told me to get rid of whatever it is. We had an outbuilding on our property so I put it there but that didn’t fool my mom. In the end I had to get rid of it. -

I really don’t want to know too much about who got what kind of a jock strap in this or that group. Morbid stuff is an age old interest and that’s all there is too it, for many of us are drawn to it by nature. Look how prevalent skulls have become on jewelry and clothing including your jock strap. The last time people wore so many skulls was most likely during SS times. What I always found fascinating was the practice of making jewelry, art and miniatures from the hair of your deceased loved one. It was common in Pennsylvania to find this sort of thing but the most amazing thing I ever saw made from hair was a framed picture of a family all hand woven. Here is an example
