. Hi earlymb When we visited Fort Knox about 25 / 30 years ago if I recall correctly the model they had on display there was fitted with a wooden beam main gun. It was also stated that the reason for this was it was a storage area for cables, block and tackle pieces. Here are a couple of photos showing fake main gun barrels , note the dent in the barrel in the one photo, and the other one swung open and no breech block visible. Norman D. Great find early issue or probably first style UDT-11 SSI sewn on first style OG-107 OD fatigues with squared off pocket flaps and white tapes.
