Kurt thanks :-) The medal was picked up from an estate sale in Helsingborg, the place where this swedish sailor was from I am trying to find more info about him in swedish archives -

. Hi earlymb When we visited Fort Knox about 25 / 30 years ago if I recall correctly the model they had on display there was fitted with a wooden beam main gun. It was also stated that the reason for this was it was a storage area for cables, block and tackle pieces. Here are a couple of photos showing fake main gun barrels , note the dent in the barrel in the one photo, and the other one swung open and no breech block visible. Norman D.
